In recent years, the IUCr has made it a priority to provide further support to the next generation of crystallographers and structural scientists. In this regard, the Early Career Scientist Division (ECSD) was formed in early 2025 and is composed of ten early career structural scientists with different backgrounds from all regional associations. The division aims to provide opportunities, promote collaboration, offer education and provide representation for younger researchers in crystallography. Thus far this has included networking opportunities, targeted sessions at the IUCr congress and new online educational resources. Through these activities we intend to support early career scientists and help to integrate them into the broader IUCr community. The target demographic covers all early career scientists including students, PhD candidates, post docs and newly independent researchers amongst others. In this talk, the newly formed early career scientist division will be introduced and our recent and planned activities in networking, education and community will be presented. In addition, the Europe based ECSD members Dr Elodie Tailleur and Dr Rebecca Clulow will introduce themselves and give an introduction to their research.
