L'Association Européenne de Cristallographie (ECA) organise depuis 2021 des "webinaires déjeuner". Les groupes d'intérêt spéciaux (SIG) et les groupes d'intérêt général (GIG) de l'ECA organisent à tour de rôle un webinaire adapté à la communauté des cristallographes au sens large. Le 29ième webinaire sera diffusé le jeudi 16 mai 2024 à 13h: Introducing SIG 15: Crystallography in Preserving, Exploring, and Communicating Cultural Heritage par Klaudia Hradil (X-ray Center, Technische Universität, Vienne, Autriche). SIG15, the newly founded special interest group “crystallography in art and cultural heritage” of the European Crystallographic Association, focusses on the uses of crystallography to study and teach about art and cultural heritage. We will discuss why SIG15 was created, its contributions to interdisciplinary collaboration, and its goals in research, education, and preserving crystallographic cultural heritage. The talk will emphasize the practical application of crystallography in understanding and conserving cultural artifacts, aiming to make these scientific concepts accessible and relevant to a broad audience.
